How to apply on Workday: tips for tech internships and new grad jobs
36 percent of open tech internship and new grad postings apply through Workday. Who uses it, what each step asks, and how to get through it faster.

The short answer
More tech internships and new grad roles apply through Workday than any other system. On October 29, 2026, 2,963 of the 8,273 open postings on the trackers behind Arial's job board (36 percent) sent applicants to Workday, at 553 companies, including RTX, NVIDIA, Micron, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, and Booz Allen. Each employer runs its own Workday site, so you sign in or create an account for every company. On NVIDIA's site, an application runs through six steps: account, your information, your experience, the employer's questions, voluntary disclosures, and review; some employers add a step or two. To move faster, use the same email and a password manager for every site, start with Autofill with Resume and then check every field it fills, use Use My Last Application when you apply to the same employer again, and keep your answers to the common questions written down so the Application Questions step is copying, not writing.
If you are applying to tech internships or new grad roles, you will spend a lot of your time on Workday. We counted how much, and walked through what a Workday application asks for, so you can get through each one faster.
What we measured
On October 29, 2026, we sorted every posting marked open on the SimplifyJobs internship and new grad trackers, the feed behind Arial's job board, by where its Apply link goes: 8,273 postings. We counted a posting as Workday when its link goes to a Workday careers site. We also opened the apply page of one NVIDIA internship on NVIDIA's Workday site and read each step without submitting anything. | Open postings | On Workday | Share |
|---|---|---|
| Internships | 1,995 of 5,131 | 39% |
| New grad roles | 968 of 3,142 | 31% |
| All | 2,963 of 8,273 | 36% |
No other system came close: Greenhouse, the next largest, carried 1,068 postings, 13 percent. By field, Workday's share was highest in hardware (43 percent of open hardware postings) and lowest in quant (26 percent), with software at 35 percent and AI and data at 33. Greenhouse, Ashby, and Lever forms need no account, which is one reason they feel faster. What a Workday application asks, step by step
On NVIDIA's Workday site, the apply page offers three ways to start: Autofill with Resume, Apply Manually, and Use My Last Application. Whichever you pick, the application runs in six steps there, and the first one is signing in or creating an account, with Google, LinkedIn, or an email address. Other employers' Workday sites follow the same pattern, though some, often government contractors, add a self-identification step.
- Create Account/Sign In: one account per employer's site.
- My Information: your personal and contact details.
- My Experience: your background and resume, the step autofill helps with most.
- Application Questions: the employer's own questions.
- Voluntary Disclosures: the voluntary demographic questions.
- Review: a last look before you submit.
How to get through Workday applications faster
- Use one email address and a password manager. You will create many Workday accounts, one per employer.
- Start with Autofill with Resume, then check every field. A misread date or job title becomes part of your application if you do not fix it.
- Use My Last Application for a second role at the same company, so you are not typing it all again.
- Keep an answer file for the Application Questions step: work authorization, sponsorship, graduation date, start date, and relocation cover most of it.
- Upload a resume with one column and a real text layer, so autofill has something it can read.

Workday applications take longer than most because every employer runs its own site and its own account. Set up your account habits and your answers once, and each new one is mostly checking and copying.
