Which companies post the most internships? Summer 2026

The companies behind the most Summer 2026 internship postings, and why most roles still come from outside the biggest names.

By Kevin Tang · Updated October 2026

The short answer

In the tracker that feeds Arial's job board, the companies with the most Summer 2026 internship postings were RTX (281), TikTok (268), Nokia (210), Disney (201), Microsoft (149), GE Vernova (108), ByteDance (102), General Dynamics Mission Systems (102), Meta (99), and Leidos and Bank of Montreal (92 each). But the big names are a small slice of the market: 2,879 companies posted Summer 2026 internships, the top 10 accounted for only 10 percent of postings, and 38 percent of companies posted just one. More than a quarter of all postings came from companies with five or fewer. So apply to the large employers, but spend most of your search beyond them: three quarters of all postings came from companies outside the top 50. Posting counts are not hiring counts: some companies post one listing per team or location.

"Which companies post the most internships" is a common question with a surprising answer. The usual lists name a handful of famous employers. The data shows the big names matter less than you would think.

What we measured

Arial's job board is fed by the SimplifyJobs internship tracker. We read one snapshot of it per month from July 2025 to August 2026 and counted every Summer 2026 internship posting once, by company, using only postings the tracker shows publicly. That gave us 16,488 postings at 2,879 companies. Two caveats: the tracker leans toward software, data, hardware, product, and quant roles, and a posting is not a hire, since some companies post one listing per team, location, or degree level. The list is not what most students expect. Defense and aerospace companies (RTX, General Dynamics Mission Systems, Leidos) and older hardware and media companies (Nokia, Disney, GE Vernova) post as many internships as the best-known software names. TikTok and ByteDance appear separately because the tracker lists them under different names; counted together, they had 370, more than RTX. Bank of Montreal also posts some roles as BMO; counted together, it had 119, which would rank sixth. Most internships come from outside the top 50

  • The top 10 companies accounted for only 10 percent of all Summer 2026 postings, and the top 50 for 25 percent.
  • 1,082 companies, 38 percent of the total, posted exactly one internship.
  • Companies with five or fewer postings accounted for 27 percent of all internships, more than the top 50 combined.

In other words, a search that only targets famous employers ignores most of the market. How to use this when you apply

  • Apply to a few large employers early, since they open first and review applications as they arrive.
  • Spend most of your time on mid-size and smaller companies that match your target role. That is where most postings are.
  • Search by role, not by brand: "data analyst intern" finds far more relevant postings than a list of famous names.
  • Do not read a posting count as your odds. A company with 200 postings may be hiring for 200 different teams.

The famous names are worth applying to, but they are not where most internships are. The fastest way to more interviews is a wider list, not a longer wait for the same few companies.
