When do product management internships open?
When product management internships get posted, from 1,142 Summer 2026 postings: a small market with a busy spring and one dominant early poster.
By Kevin Tang · Updated October 2026
The short answer
Product management internships open from the fall of the year before, but most are posted after New Year. In the tracker that feeds Arial's job board, 18 percent of the 1,142 Summer 2026 product internships were up by October 1, 2025, 43 percent by New Year, and 31 percent appeared after March 1, 2026. Roles with product manager in the title ran a little earlier: 20 percent were up by October 1 and 47 percent by New Year. March was the busiest month, and February and March together added 31 percent of the season. TikTok was by far the largest and earliest poster, with 65 product internships, almost three times the next company. So have your resume ready in September and apply to the early programs, then plan for a second, bigger round from January to April. It is a small market, about one product internship for every six in data, AI, and ML, so a wider company list matters.
Product management internships have a reputation for being few, competitive, and early. The first two are true. The data shows the third is only half true: a few big programs post in the fall, and most of the season comes after New Year.
What we measured
The SimplifyJobs internship tracker, which feeds Arial's job board, tags each posting with a field, including one for product. We read one snapshot of the tracker per month from July 2025 to August 2026 and dated each Summer 2026 internship by the first snapshot that listed it, counting only postings the tracker shows publicly. The tracker renamed the field partway through the season ("Product Management" became "Product"), so we counted both labels together. That gave us 1,142 product internships at 552 companies. The July 1, 2025 snapshot is our first, and monthly snapshots miss anything posted and removed within a month. September 2025 added more than 13 percent of the season, but February and March 2026 together added 31 percent, and March alone was the busiest month at 16 percent. One company dominates the early wave
TikTok posted 65 Summer 2026 product internships, 6 percent of the whole field and almost three times the next company. It also went first: 14 of the 51 product internships on the tracker by September 1, 2025 were TikTok's. After TikTok came Disney (23), State Street (14), and American Express, Zebra Technologies, and T-Mobile (13 each). The rest of the field is spread across hundreds of companies, and 339 of them posted exactly one product internship. What counts as a product internship
About half of the field, 591 postings, has product manager, product management, technical product, or associate product in the title. Those PM titles ran a little earlier than the rest: 20 percent were up by October 1, 2025, and 47 percent by New Year. The other half includes product analyst, product owner, and product operations roles, which are worth a look if you want product experience and the PM titles are taken. On eligibility, 90 percent of the product internships that list degrees include a bachelor's degree, and 10 percent mention an MBA. | Nov to Dec | A slower stretch. Use it to add analyst and product owner roles to your list. |
| Jan to Apr | The main season: February and March added almost a third of all product internships. Check weekly. |

The product internship market is small, so missing the spring wave costs more than in larger fields. Students who apply early and keep going until April see the whole season.
